These players stand between the Americans and gold. David Hall and Robin Ammerlaan face each other in most finals. Esther Vergeer lost only one match since the Sydney Paralympics. Daniela Di Toro stopped Esther in Sydney in 2003 and has clawed her way back to the No. 2 spot. Maaike Smit is Esther's doubles partner and has won medals in four Paralympics. Peter Norfolk is the No. 1 quad in the world, and Sarah Hunter, his usual doubles partner, is the
first woman to play in the quad division.
